Description • With lighting function • For fast and accurate frost protection measurement of solar, thermal pump and cooling system liquids • For measuring the ice flaking point at which the frost protection agent begins to freeze • With additional refractive index scale (nD20) for determining other liquids • 2 refractometers in one for measuring the ice flaking point of conventional frost protection agents and the refractive index of various liquids Scales for frost protection agent based on: • Propylene glycol, measurement range 0°...-45°C (solar, heating and cooling systems) • Ethylene glycol, measurement range 0°...-45°C (heating) • Ethanol, measurement range 0°...-42°C The manual refractometer allows a quick check of the frost protection of solar fluids, heat pump fluids or cooling fluids. The refractometer precisely determines the ice flake point of water-propylene glycol mixtures, water-ethylene glycol mixtures or water-ethanol mixtures. All that is needed is one to two drops of the liquid to be checked, which can simply be added to the device with a pipette. This makes it particularly easy to determine the ice flake point of any antifreeze or the refractive index of different liquids. A light integrated into the manual refractometer makes the work easier. Determining the ice flake point is highly important because liquids such as the solar fluid can form ice crystals at certain temperatures without freezing completely. As soon as the ice flake point is reached, the properties of liquids in systems begin to deteriorate, which can lead to system malfunctions or damage to components. Therefore, frost protection in systems should be checked regularly. The refractometer is a simple way to effectively protect solar installations or other systems from frost damage. Technical data
