Quick and efficient installation of various piping systems
Matching fittings made of copper and gunmetal mean that transitions, connections and joints on copper pipes can be made safely and with little work. After pressing, the press fitting is immediately tight and can be subjected to permanent loads. This is made possible by the sealing rings integrated in the fitting, which reliably seal the pressing point. The press process offers numerous advantages over soldered copper pipe installations. This means, among other things, that it is not necessary to heat the pipe material or the fittings to be assembled in order to make the connection. This makes assembly quicker than soldering, and there is no need to work with an open flame, which increases safety. Fire protection precautions and cooling times are no longer an issue with the press fitting.
Most fittings for pressing are leaky when not pressed, which makes forgotten pressing points easily noticeable in a pressure test. When selecting press fittings, make sure that the fittings used are approved for the respective application and the medium to be passed through. For example, if copper fittings are used in drinking water installations, they must be approved for this use. The corresponding DVGW approval confirms that the fitting cannot have a negative influence on the quality of the drinking water.
Copper fittings available in numerous designs, shapes and diameters
As well as fittings for drinking water applications, or for use in plumbing and heating technology, special designs for gas installation and solar technology are also available. For example, fittings for gas systems are approved for this specific area of application and must be appropriately certified. There are also special press fittings available for solar systems. The O-rings used for this purpose must be suitable for the high temperatures in the solar thermal sector. The various copper fittings also differ in terms of the pressing profile. Depending on the design and contour, the pressing tool have the corresponding pressing jaws. Using the correct contour in each case ensures compliant and safe pressing of the pressing point. There are also a number of shapes of copper press fittings available. This allows changes in direction, branches and crossovers to be implemented with little effort.

-
For example, different elbows are available for various applications, which can be pressed either on one side or on both sides. They are also available in different radii and diameters as required.
-
T-pieces are also available in various designs for copper press systems, which allows branches to be easily created.
-
Various joints are also available for connecting copper pipes in the press system. You can choose between joints with centre stop or sliding joints for pressing, depending on the requirements at the installation site.
-
If the pipe cross-section should be reduced within the installation, reducing pieces and reduction sleeves can be used, which are just as easy to press.
-
If two pipe lines cross, a crossover should be used which is also available in different versions as a copper press fitting.
-
Open pipe ends can be easily closed with a cap for pressing.

Gunmetal fittings for a wide range of applications and in different variants
Gunmetal press fittings can be easily combined with copper fittings and copper pipes. While copper is suitable for fittings such as elbows, T-pieces or reducing pieces, gunmetal alloys are mainly used when a threaded fitting is required. Gunmetal fittings are available in multiple variants for a range of applications.
-
For example, a suitable junction piece allows pressed pipe systems to be securely connected to screwed connection variants. Therefore, junction pieces are available in several versions with different diameters, which are provided with either internal thread or external thread.
-
There are also screw connections with a press connection on both sides and one-sided press pieces and one-sided threaded connections available.
-
Fittings made of gunmetal alloy are also available in different variants for mounting valves or fittings. These include, for example, wall spacers, which are available in various designs and shapes as well as different thread diameters and nominal widths.
-
Complete assembly units with gunmetal fittings make the installation of outlet fittings easier, and are also available as a press variants.

As well as classic soldering of copper pipes and fittings, the pressing process has also been used successfully for decades in plumbing installations. Compact pressing jaws and pressing tools also enable pressing in narrow and complex places.
Furthermore, as there is no fire hazard, there is no longer any need for complicated prefabrication of pipe sections in areas at risk of fire. Press fittings are offered by various manufacturers with a number of different names. These include, for example, the Profi-Press system from Viega, the Frabopress press fittings from Frabo and the Sudo-Press fitting system from Aalberts. All systems can be combined with standard copper piping, as they are available in different pipe dimensions.
